Procedure
I began this video activity by thinking of a topic that I could use for my video and also use within my classroom. Next week we will be exploring fossils, so I looked for images of fossils through creativecommons. I found images that my students can use to easily identify fossils, cited them, and saved them. I then opened Windows Movie Maker and uploaded the fossil photos. I then added a title page, changed the colors, fonts, and adjusted the length of each picture (so my children had long enough to actually think about the fossil). I then added a transition between each picture and a song I found from FreePlayMusic that reminded me of the ocean (since many of the fossils were sea creatures or shells.) I then exported the file as a .wmv, uploaded it to YouTube, and embedded it above.

Challenges

The greatest challenge for this activity, for me, was trying to figure out what images I wanted to use. Although I greatly enjoy learning about and utilizing so many different tools, I feel like I can use these projects as opportunities to integrated additional technology into my classroom. I greatly enjoy teaching South Carolina history, so I immediately thought about compiling images for next week's lessons. Sadly, since it's covering the Revolutionary War in South Carolina, it is more difficult to find images that align with state standards. I then thought about our science lessons about fossils, and thought additional visual aids could greatly benefit my students.

New Learnings

I learned how easy it is to use Windows Movie Maker. It has a very easy to use interface. After finishing this activity, I have been considering using Windows Movie Maker as a tool for my students to publish and share their work throughout the year.
